Beaming with delight.

Annie loves to be the center of attention.
Today Annie decided she was a magician.
Annie took her water bottle walked up to a teacher and very firmly demands 'cover you eyes Miz Lindee'.
Annie is five and is still making that transition from Chinese to English.
After squimishly doing what she was told, Miz Lindee covers her eyes with just enough room to watch the questionable five year old work her 'magic'.
Annie quickly slides her water bottle under her teachers chair and pops back up with an extra spring.
She beams with delight.
'Annie...tell her to open her eyes now...'

'ahpen yur ii's mz lindee ahpen ahpen AHPEN!'
'...Wow Annie. You have great magical skills!'
Annie beams with delight.

She turns to me, but first crawls under the chair to retrieve her prop. (A magician must never reveal their true secrets).
'mzz erEca!!'
'Yes Miss Annie!!?'
'i show you my majic now!'
'Really?! Ok! Go for it!'
Apparently she I wasn't ready for her to 'go for it'. Bending over with hands on hips, squinted eyes with puckered lips, 'mz erEca-cloze-yur-eyes!!'
'Oooh, ok. Sorry. Ok Annie, Go for it!'
Repeating the same process of placing the water bottle under the same chair of which I am now facing 'AHPEN YUR EYZ MZ ERECA!'
Trying desperately to hold back tears of laughter 'ANNIE!! Where did it go!?!!??!? Oh my goodness, you're so good! Will you perform at my birthday party?!'
Beaming with delight hands tucked behind her back swaying back and forth, 'yesss.'

Two hours later in the middle of a mass chaotic game of 'freeze character', I feel a fierce tugging on my shorts.
Looking down I see five year old little Miss Annie, water bottle in hand.
"Yes ma'am?"
With her hands still folded behind her back, head tilted up toward the ceiling and swaying back back and forth as if she had to use the restroom, smile smeared across her cute little face, 'mz erEca?...when iz yur birfday?'
