swing batter batter

BATS BATS EVERYWHERE!
last night i had a fun little dream where there were two bats flying around my room. it was very vivid. apparently so vivid that at 3:30 am i felt the need to flail my arms around such that i knocked everything off of my night table one by one. i woke up this morning and thought that someone slipped speed in my toothpaste. good news, i went back to sleep only to find that i had cornered and stabbed one of the bats in the eye with my eyeliner-turns out it was a flying frog. go figure.

"In the film, a children's chorus sings the "arithmetic" section over and over inside a small classroom, while Andersen, listening just outside, gazes at an inchworm crawling on the flowers and sings the main section of the song."

shhhh

My mom used to sing me this lullaby every night before I went to bed. I think of this when the smell of vanilla catches my nose. My mom always smells of french vanilla.

Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
Could it be, stop and see
How beautiful they are

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two

Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
You and your arithmetic
You'll probably go far

Two and two are four
Four and four are eight
Eight and eight are sixteen
Sixteen and sixteen are thirty-two

Inchworm, inchworm
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me you'd stop and see
How beautiful they are

another version i found that i'm glad she didn't sing to me. however, this makes me wonder what an inchworm actually does. i'll have to look that up and get back to you.

Stay, longer, for me,
Wait, longer, for me,
I know you must be getting sick,
of wondering exactly where this leads you,
Why did it take so long,
why did it take so long,
Why did it take so long,
Stay, longer, for me,
Wait, longer, for me,
I know you must be getting sick,
of wondering exactly where this leads you,
Why did it take so long,
Why did it take so long,
Why did it take so long,
Inchworm, inchworm,
measuring, the merrygold.
i have been cleaning out my files and i found this. i wrote it a few years go but oddly enough i was thinking about this subject today. i figured i'd post it. however sappy and cliche it may be, it still rings true today- please just go at it with an open mind.ha

I'm often presented with the question "Where do you wish you were right now?". I usually reply with, bed; sleeping, rome, or dancing with the rockettes. Secretly, the first thought that comes to mind is an image of myself in a wonderful wide open space with my eyes closed hearing nothing but beautiful music. Music that reveals a story or truth. Music that would make me want to dance or spin around in circles until I give in. Music that makes my heart race. Music that racks my inner most thoughts and questions the things that I sometimes doubt. Music that has a purpose. Music that makes me want to live. Music that scares me to open my eyes because I don't want to slip back to reality. I'm often faced with the question "What do you most fear"...I always respond with "To not listen".

mime to st. francis

i can't help but wonder how the world might be if only more acted such as St. Francis had in early medieval times; without the preaching of the birds of course. think about it, if we all tried to act as jesus did, meaning to better the world in some form or another, possibly without the fasting on 1/2 loaf of bread for 40 days as francis had, how would the world change? all of the possibilities that could arise out of this situation only gives me hope for a chance of change for the not so distance future of which i, regretfully, and slightly am fearful of. what will become of our world if we don't honestly realize our potential and power that we could have the affect to change?

singing in the rain

A father teaches his son the difference between common sense and risk. "Are you afraid, are you thinking about it? Don't. When it comes it comes. In life, we have choices son..Leap.
A sister sings about strife which consumes her life. "I can say I know how it is, but when I think too much, I feel dizy.
A mother discusses her wedding plans with her daughter. "One week. Can you believe it? I remember when I first met him..." She grins, fingering the symbolic ring around her finger. "...I still glow.
A poet, composing a new priceless piece of work, that will soon become apart of his collection in his book of words, aspirations, silly thoughts…truth.
An empty heart, empty mind across the room sits. Waiting; Open; Wishing for a muse.
A little girl filled with hope for tomorrow stares in wonderment. Only she listens while life spins around her in circles as she is planted in slow motion. Dreaming of her days to come. Inspiration that someday, someday, she will understand.
Another father remembers his little girls as they once were. He could hold them in his arms. One in each. Now they stand beside him singing in harmony. "They are two alone, three together, for each other?, they sing together.
Closing our eyes we remember how things once were, how we want them to be. We release. We are free.
The ability to live carefree, it's now a rarity. Step back and just breath. Don't think, leap.

jump off that ledge. go!

as i was leaving the show at edesias tonight, i couldn't help but notice a homeless man standing under a storefront-hands in pockets, chin and mouth tucked into his coat as far as he could muster, swaying back and forth as if it helped take the sharpening cold from his body. I know it's sappy, but i instantly wanted to cry. i couldn't help it. we have so much and whether they asked for it or not, they have so little. as i turned the other cheek walking to my car, i wondered how nice it would be to give him something. not money or food-but clothing...a scarf! how nice it would be to give that man a warm scarf. however, i didn't have one with me to give. the one i had was around my neck. my pretty multi colored scarf my grandma bought for me at some 'expensive' shop in the east. "ahh, i don't want to give him this. my grandma got it for me. it's so pretty" i thought...but he looked so cold. where will he sleep? back and forth i went arguing with myself to the point of tears while driving home. i couldn't understand why it was so difficult for me to give up something that meant so much to me but at the same time, nothing to me at all. at the moment, i am tucked in nice and cozy and warm still contimplating how i could-can be so selfish. i don't understand. it's funny that the world consumes us to the point that we think 'everything is necessary'. through this whole ordeal, the entire time in the back of my mind i was thinking "jesus would have stripped his clothes off for this man in an instant...why can't i give one of my many scaves for his warmth, his health, a great moment in his day?" i never did give him a scarf. i thought about going back and giving him another one...but i didn't.

duh-it's like, language

“So I want to talk about, umm, candy. It’s so good and umm, it’s sweet, and it’s umm, well it melts in your mouth when you eat it. You can buy many types of candy at lots of different stores and umm, yeah, it’s not very expensive and it’s umm pretty cheap”. This one sided conversation actually played like a bad disney movie in my life not but six days ago. I can't decipher whether this bothers me from being a theatre junkie, paying attention in speech, or because I'm just the lucky one in a millionth person in America who has the ability to choose other words in the large vocabulary to fill space rather than ummm. The word umm, as you can see, has become apart of our every day vocabulary. I feel, in many ways, that America has created it’s own personal little dictionary. In this non websternized book of slang and inappropriate grammer, contains words such as like, golly wolly, yo, seriously?!, fo real, wowzers, yikes, dude, na man, shut up foo, ahh, yeah/yah/yea, oh, the ever favorite shizzle on my nizzle fa hizzle, your mom, whatcha, fer, warsh, won’tchew (won’t you), that’s what she said, anyways (correct: anyway), and the famous, yet fiercely invisible to some, the word umm. To most, this three letter word goes unnoticed. When talking with such a person you can drop umm almost anywhere in a sentence and they would be completely oblivious to the fact that the person with whom they’re speaking with is a-an idiot and b-using an “Americanized” “word” every time she inhales rather than working her brain and allowing it to do the job that both it and the mouth were created to function as. (notice I said she. sexest? maybe. opinion? possibily. think about the last five girls you've talked with, think about the last five guys you've talked with...observation? yes.) If said person were to ever speak with me in such a way, my toes would curl, my eyes would flinch, and my ears would focus in only on the now bolded word as my fingers unfolded one by one counting just how many times they use this inappropriate word as a word. I can't help it, I too have developed a horrible habit from this word. Honestly, hey, it happens. However, I do not use it in place of words or to fill space rather than to pause for a brief moment while you collect your thoughts and prepare to speak. I would like to thank the fantastic American's out there who use this "word" in place of thought or reason, for the cause of one of my now many annoying ocd habits.
