Struthio camelus

While reading wikipedia today, I stumbled upon our dear friend the Ostrich. Even though you learn about animals in, lets say Kindergarten, I found a few things amazing about this animal that I felt I needed to share with the world.

-"If cornered, it can cause injury and death with a kick from its powerful legs."..."Their legs can only kick forward." --- I find this HILARIOUS. (Picture an Ostrich kicking vigorously...but only kicking forward, funny!...Ok, so I'm a horrible person with an awful sense of humor. I'm sorry.)

-"In popular mythology, the Ostrich is famous for hiding its head in the sand at the first sign of danger."

-"It is the only living species of its family, Struthionidae." (Funny name).

-"When threatened, the Ostrich will either hide itself by lying flat against the ground, or will run away"

-"...world's fastest two-legged animal." (The best part)
